Ingredient Spotlight: GREEN COFFEE
First thing in the morning. Straight up black. In a latte. From the drive-through. A meeting over it. In so many ways, we love our coffee!
Did you know that coffee beans in their natural state, are not brown, but green? Before roasting or processing, the beans are green and grow on a plant, called Coffea Arabica.
Unroasted coffee beans are a rich source of antioxidants and have many more benefits than the roasted coffee beans we use to make that cup o’ Joe. The roasting process alters the bean’s taste, aroma, and color. It also changes the bean’s chemical structure and nutrient concentration, so the health benefits of the two types of beans are quite different.
While a cup of coffee provides antioxidants and stimulating effects internally, research has shown that Green Coffee, also antioxidant-rich, provides the opposite effects when used externally. It calms the skin and when applied topically, Green Coffee supplies numerous other skin-related benefits.
Its high concentration of essential fatty acids, sterols, and vitamin E make it a potent antioxidant that nourishes and rejuvenates skin while decreasing the appearance of sunspots, roughness, redness, and signs of aging. Green Coffee can reduce the harmful effects of free radicals that show up as wrinkles, loss of tone, and dimpled, puckered body skin. It can even cure dullness and with its anti-bacterial properties, help to heal acne.
Chlorogenic acid and caffeine are responsible for the Green Coffee bean’s powerful effects.
Chlorogenic acid is a good-for-you antioxidant that the body quickly absorbs and metabolizes, meaning you can easily take advantage of its bountiful health benefits. The high concentration of chlorogenic acid present in Green Coffee has anti-inflammatory effects on the skin, reduces hyperpigmentation and the redness associated with excessive sun exposure.
Caffeine contains anti-aging properties as well. It smoothes, tightens and tones skin while enhancing circulation and reducing inflammation. The two ingredients together support the skin’s structure to restore moisture and hydration for the appearance of brighter, firmer, youthful-looking skin. And they can help reduce the appearance of cellulite by breaking down fat deposits and increasing blood flow to the affected areas. What’s not to love there?
80–90% of adult women know firsthand how cellulite gives skin a dimpled, lumpy appearance. It occurs when fat deposits push through the connective tissue under the skin—commonly seen on the butt, hips, and thighs. When Caffeine and Green Coffee are used topically, it helps to break down this fat and remove excess fluid under the surface, tightening, stimulating, and improving the appearance of that tired, lumpy, bumpy skin.
No wonder Cell-U-Logic customers love our Green Coffee & Seaweed Exfoliating Soap!
Green Coffee is a skin soother, rich in fatty acids and esters to moisturize and repair the skin barrier. The beans in our body bar provide a gentle physical exfoliant that buffs away dead skin, causing skin cells to turn over faster, resulting in a smoother, brighter, more even skin tone.
Seaweed is full of humectants that protect barrier function and also sinks deep down into the epidermis to hydrate and nourish cells while improving blood flow. Known for its detoxifying properties and containing a rich source of concentrated minerals and trace elements, Seaweed revitalizes the skin and gives it a healthy glow.
